House of Reps orders Stella Oduah’s N225M bullet proof cars be returned to contractor

Nigeria's former Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah made headlines in October 2013 for acquiring two black BMW 760 Li HSS bullet proof cars.

The cars valued at $1.6 million (N255 million) was purchased by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority - NCAA for Oduah.

Joe Obi, the Special Assistant to Oduah during her tenure, claimed the cars were purchased for 'security reasons'.

Yesterday the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, ordered the NCAA to return the cars to the contractor and recover the money.

The cars are currently parked in Abuja, with no government official making use of them.

Chairman of the committee, Nkiruka Chidubem Onyejeocha, said NCAA have no business keeping the cars, stressing that the contract terms between NCAA and Coscharis Motors should be cancelled and the money recovered from the supplier.

She said: “What we said about the bullet proof cars is that the contract should be cancelled and that they do not have any business keeping the cars. It should be returned to the supplier and then recover our.money,” adding that due process was not followed in the contract.
