Boko Haram leader, Shekau denies ceasefire deal with FG, says Chibok girls have been married off

Boko Haram have denied agreeing to a ceasefire with the Nigerian government describing the government's claims as a lie and apparently ruling out future talks.

The sect's leader, Abubakar Shekau, in a new video obtained on Friday by AFP, also claimed the 219 schoolgirls kidnapped from Chibok, in Borno state, in April had converted to Islam and been married off.

"We have not made ceasefire with anyone...

"We did not negotiate with anyone… It's a lie. It's a lie. We will not negotiate. What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not." Shekau said in Hausa.

"Don't you know the over 200 Chibok schoolgirls have converted to Islam? They have now memorised two chapters of the Koran," he said.

Shekau who previously threatened to sell the girls as slave brides and also suggested that he would be prepared to release them in exchange for Boko Haram prisoners, said while laughing: "We have married them off. They are in their marital homes."

Shekau also said he did not know Danladi Ahmadu, a man who claimed to be representing the sect.

The self acclaimed secretary General of Boko Haram was the one who announced the ceasefire on behalf of Boko Haram to the Nigerian government.
