FG declares public holidays for Christmas, New year

Federal Government has declared December 25 and 26, 2014, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day Celebrations, while January 1, 2015 was declared a public holiday to mark the New Year.

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, who made the declaration today in Abuja, enjoined all Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Christmas, which are love, peace, justice, kindness to their daily lives and through this contribute to the development of the nation.

While wishing all Nigerians a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year celebrations, the minister also urged them to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity in the country.
