FG donates food, drugs to Gombe bomb victims

The Federal Government has donated drugs and relief materials to victims of the recent bomb blast at a motor park in Gombe state.

The Minister of Transport, Idris Umar, who is also an indigene of the state, made the presentation of the materials on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan to the Gombe State Government at a Specialists Hospital, where survivors of the Dukku Park blast are undergoing medical treatment.

The minister who led the Federal Government's delegation to the state to commiserate with the government and people of the state said, "President Jonathan is very much touched because of the lives and property that were lost in the blast. The drugs and other equipment are here for the assistance of the victims of the bomb blast. We hereby present same to the Gombe State government through NEMA, to be used in treating those who sustained injuries during the blast.

"We sympathise with the victims and their families. For those who lost their lives, we pray for the repose of their gentle souls."

He however urged the Gombe State Government to ensure judicious use of the drugs and equipment, advising the citizens to always be vigilant to avert such attacks in future.

"I call on the general public to be vigilant at all times and cooperate with the state government and all agencies like NEMA and similar bodies, responsible for giving support during emergencies," he said.
