President Jonathan escapes death as bomb blast rocks his presidential rally in Gombe

President Goodluck Jonathan escaped death few hours ago as a bomb blast ripped through a car park outside a stadium where he had addressed a re-election campaign rally.

According to a source who was at the rally in Gombe, the explosion happened at 3:10 pm just three minutes after Jonathan's departure.

Another source said two suicide bombers died in the explosion that injured 18 persons.

"The president had just passed the parking lot and we were trailing behind his convoy when the explosion happened… just 100 metres (yards) from the bus we were driving in." A local reporter said.
