"Who Saw It Happen?" - PDP national women leader thinks kidnapped school girl story is untrue

The National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mrs. Kema Chikwe has publicly questioned the story of the abduction of teenage school girls in Chibok, Borno State.

Speaking at a prayer session held for national security at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, Mrs. Chikwe said there were many unanswered questions concerning the kidnap.

Among them, according to her, are: "How did it happen? Who saw it happen? Who did not see it happen? Who is behind this?"

Towards obtaining answers, she demanded that the principal of the school should release the names and photographs of the abducted girls.

Mrs. Chikwe was tabling her controversial queries on the same day that many indigenes of Chibok, including anguished mothers seeking answers from the government, staged a public protest in Abuja to demand the immediate.return of the girls, who were abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents over two weeks ago.

Scores of bewildered parents of kidnapped pupils of the Federal Government Girls College, Chibok in Borno State, on Tuesday staged a protest at the National Assembly.in Abuja.

The protesting women, who wore black dresses and carried placards, lamented the continued stay of their children in the custody of the insurgents, fearing that the girls might have been defiled.

Leader of the parents, Mrs. Duomi Mukhtar, said the essence of their visit to the National Assembly was to further draw global attention to their predicament.

She called on the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly to be sympathetic to their plight by asking the Federal Government and the military
authorities to ensure the immediate release of their daughters.

Four senators - Hellen Esuene, Zainab Kure, Barnabas Gemade and Ali Ndume - addressed the protesters on behalf of the Senate President, David Mark.

The senators assured the women of their support for the Federal Government to ensure the safe release of the girls.
Ndume, who is also from Borno State, said, "Our thoughts and prayers go to all of you because we are one of you. We stand united in grief with you in your hour of pain, agony and anxiety.

"We will do everything possible to make sure that the kidnappers release our daughters immediately, unconditionally."

The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Zainab Maina, who also addressed the women, urged them to remain prayerful as the Federal Government and the military authorities would ensure that the innocent girls are reconciled with their parents

Man tortured and raped in jail for raping 2-year-old boy to death

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor named Daryell Dickson Meneses Xavier was reportedly beaten and raped by 20 men after he was locked up for allegedly killing and possibly raping his girlfriend's 1 year 11 months old son (pictured with him left) in Taguatinga, suburb of Brasilia, Brazil in Sept 2013.

According to local media, trouble started for the man after his girlfriend left him alone with her son. A few hours later, he called his girlfriend claiming the boy fell and was having seizures. The child was rushed to the hospital and died two days later.

Doctors who didn't believe the boy fell called the police and told them they suspected foul play because the injuries on the boy wasn't consistent with a fall but with blunt trauma, and also said possible sexual abuse was involved.

Doctors concluded there was blunt trauma and that the child also had a fissure in the anus. Fissure could come from sexual abuse or constipation but the boy's mum said he didn't have constipation.

Daryell was immediately arrested and charged with abusing and killing the boy, an accusation he vehemently denied. Then he went to prison and other prisoners who had heard what he did, came for him. (See the anus area in the right pic above)

According to local media reports, prisoners who were furious about the crime he committed against a child descended on Xazier and took turns violently raping him in prison. He was also brutally assaulted. He was saved by prison guards after hours of torture, who removed him from the facility. He was treated and kept in prison hospital for weeks so he could recover.

When he recovered a little, they returned him to the prison and once again… the prisoners descended on him. They tore open the stitches on his back, stabbed him some more and raped him again.

Xavier has since been removed from the Wansbeck, DF prison and taken to another prison.

Police fire teargas at protesting teachers and students in Abuja

A protest organised today by Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), who have been demanding facility improvements at a range of technical colleges across the country, was disrupted by Policemen who fired teargas at teachers and students and shot live rounds into the air as they tried to disperse the rally. Despite the stand-off, no one was reported injured during the protest.

The march, which the unions said involved about 100 people, began at Abuja's Eagle Square - which is often the site of political rallies - before moving towards the parliament, where organisers had planned to formally present their grievances to lawmakers.

"As we were about crossing the road to the Memorial Arcade, the policemen who barricaded the road started shooting live bullets, tear gas canisters and they are using their water can vehicles to disperse the crowd," Tunde Lawal, a teacher at the rally, told AFP.

He said the security forces had tried to prevent the rally from reaching the National Assembly.

A police officer at the scene, who requested anonymity, described the incident as a "very serious battle."

"It involved the use of everything to disperse the protest" he said, although he added that no one was injured.

Teachers at state-run technical colleges say they have been forced to work in buildings with decaying facilities, and lack the infrastructure and support to teach effectively.

P-square break up and make up was a publicity stunt

P-square

While all P-square fans were worried and praying against their break up, Peter and Paul Okoye were busy laughing and playing a 'publicity game' (Seriously???). In a chat with Icon Weekly magazine, P-Square's Publicist, Bayo Adetu opens up on what really transpired..

Greetings, Bayo, we heard that the Okoye brothers have finally reconciled, can you give us an insight on what really happened?

(After a long laugh… ) My brother, I'm telling you this as a friend, there was no fight at all. The whole thing started after Jude tweeted some days back and bloggers feasted on it and gave it several interpretations which never existed, and that was how we got here.

Are you saying there wasn't a fight at all, how then did Peter and Paul keep releasing comments through their Facebook accounts?

My guy, I can authoritatively tell you that neither of the P-Square brothers, nor even Jude operate their Facebook accounts anymore. Whatever Facebook posted was from an impersonator, pretending to be anyone of them. P-Sqaure is active on twitter, not on facebook, so you see, the whole thing was founded on lies.

If what you are saying is true, why did they all tweet a reconciliatory tweet this morning indicating that they have mended fences?

There's one thing you should know, P-Square are not politicians, neither are they businessmen to be worried about what one useless blogger or the other has to say about them. In this game, bad publicity is good publicity. When we read those funny posts, we decided to play along with the general public and what they were meant to believe.

Yesterday, Thursday, April 24, 2014 was Jude Okoye's birthday and he also used the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend while we laughed at the stupidity of some Nigerian bloggers.

We later decided to further play into their hands by reaching a consensus to tweet what they have termed the 'reconciliation tweet'.

However as a journalist, I am pained that trained journalists allow themselves to be remoted by Linda Ikeji, a mere blogger without any professional training to stall them from investigating serious news material like this. These days, immediately Linda posts anything on her blog, journalists just go there and copy and paste the story without any checks and balances, it is outrightly wrong, I'm really upset about this.

She called me after posting the story and I just decided to ignore her calls, because I didn't think we had anything more to say when the milk has been spilt.

I have taken my time to explain to you this way because, you are a friend and did not join the bandwagon.

As for those bloggers out there, I allowed them to write whatever they like; after all, they are consuming their Internet data, not mine.

What Boko Haram is doing with over 100 abducted girls

A highly placed source has revealed that the over 100 students of Government Girls' Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State abducted by Boko Haram are being kept by the insurgents to save their camps from bombardment by military troops.

The National Security Council at its expanded meeting on Thursday gave the military a marching order to rescue the girls.

The armed forces are said to be taking maximum caution in handling the situation with a view to saving the lives of the girls.

"Intelligence report confirmed thatBoko Haram found it strategic tokeep the girls to save their campsfrom bombardment by troops," the source said.

Troops are understood to be advancing on the area where the girls are being kept.

The source said: "From available security reports, troops are around the axis where the abducted girls are being held hostage.

"Details of the exact location cannot be made public.

"Even the submissions of the service chiefs at the security council meeting were tactical for operational reasons.

"The military was trying to avoid collateral damage because the affected area is bigger. It is as big as the whole of Ikeja, Lagos."

The military and the Borno State Government are not saying much for fear that Boko Haram with its widespread cells might pick up sensitive information.

It was also learnt that plan by aggrieved women in Borno State togo into Sambisa Forest to look forthe abducted girls may not work.

A government source said: "No one will allow these women to go into the forest. These women will also not attempt it because of thedelicate nature of the terrain."

How Boko Haram recruits jobless youths with $3000

Culled From Tribune.

Young Nigeriens at the border town of Nigeria and Niger Republic, Diffa, have confessed to be recruits of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram.

A member of a gang in Niger told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that Boko Haram Islamist militants from Nigeria."regularly come across the border, looking for recruits."

The gang members, in their 20s, said they were paid $3,085 (about N500,000) to join the insurgency and since they were jobless, they were willing to take the cash, but with no interest in protecting Sharia law.

However, they said they were willing to strike if given the assignment to do so, as they blamed their decision to join the militant group on their joblessness.

"They have paid Nigerian naira ($3,085, £1,835) to those of us who followed them over there," one of the young men said.

"When they come, we inform them about what's going on, what the security forces are up to.

"We have no jobs; some of us are still at high school, but we need money. Violence has become a form of work for us."

These confessions were revealed in a documentary published by the BBC, on Tuesday, after Thomas Fessy, a BBC reporter visited Diffa region in Niger Republic.

BBC made contacts with this local gang, who claimed they collaborated with Boko Haram and agreed.

According to BBC documentary, five of these young Nigeriens said they had already joined the militant Boko Haram sect, while two other members were killed in operations. In total there are about a dozen gang members in a tiny, dark room, built with local mud-bricks.

When the reporter asked them: "If you are asked to launch an attack here, will you be ready to do that"

Their response: "Yes, we are ready. We have no job, so, we are ready. That is what we are here for."

When the BBC reporter asked if they agreed with Boko Haram's reason for fighting, they answered in unison: "No. We only do it for the money."

Manchester United sacks manager David Moyes

Manchester United have sacked manager David Moyes with immediate effect after owners, the Glazer family finally lost patience with the Scot.

The 50-year-old, who created a host of unwanted records during his brief stint at Old Trafford, becomes the first United manager to be dismissed since Ron Atkinson in 1986.

Announcing Moyes' departure on their official Twitter account, United added: "The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

Moyes had endured a torrid campaign in charge of the reigning Premier League champions, with Sunday's abject 2-0 loss to former club Everton guaranteeing that the Red Devils will miss out on a place in the Champions League next season.

Man U player-coach Ryan Giggs is expected to take charge of the club's next game at home against Norwich this coming Saturday.

There is even speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson could return to the dugout he vacated just a year ago.

Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal, Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, Atletico Madrid's manager Diego Simeone and Paris St-Germain's Laurent Blanc have already been tipped as possible successors to Moyes.
