Manchester United have announced they have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Juan Mata for a club record £37million.
The midfielder was expected to undergo a medical with the Premier League champions yesterday but things have been held up by the Blues' delay in the acquistion of Mohamed Salah, despite Jose Mourinho insisting the deal for the Egyptian was done.
However, it is thought there will be no hitches and that Mata will have his medical on Saturday (today) and agree personal terms in time to make his debut for David Moyes' side in Tuesday's game against Cardiff.
"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Chelsea Football Club for the transfer of Juan Mata for a club-record fee," said United in a statement.
"The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had already earlier confirmed the sale of Mata and said it would be a 'fantastic opportuntiy' for the 25-year-old.
