Boko Haram abduct 30 adolescents as they prepare to release Chibok girls today

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents over the weekend abducted about 30 adolescents - some of them girls aged as young as 11, a local village chief told journalists on sunday.

"The insurgents... grabbed young people, boys and girls, from our region," said Alhaji Shettima Maina, who is in charge of the Mafa village around 50 kilometres east of the city of Maiduguri.

"They took all boys aged 13 and over... and all girls aged 11 and more. According to our information, 30 young people were abducted in the last two days," he said.

This report is coming a day after a self acclaimed secretary General of Boko Haram, Mallam Danladi Ahmadu promised that the group will release the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls on Monday (today) to Chadian President, Idriss Derby for onward presentation to the Nigerian government.
