"As far as the constitution allows me, i will try to ensure that there is a responsible and accountable governance at all levels of government in the country." With this statement Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has once again given us confidence that the long awaited change has finally arrived.
Buhari's inaugural speech today at the Eagles Square is something i would like to describe as "the speech of change".
The president in his speech highlighted and promised to tackle what he called the "immediate challenges" of Nigeria, namely: Boko Haram, "The Niger Delta situation", power shortages and unemployment. While the long term challenges include: Improvement of the standard of education and upgrade of poor infrastructure.
President Buhari reassured Nigerians of his readiness to tackle the Boko Haram menace, saying the military command centers will be relocated from Abuja to the war front, Maiduguri, until Boko Haram is subdued. He separated Islam from Boko Haram, describing them as a "mindless and godless group". He also promised to rescue the Chibok school girls who have been in Boko Haram captivity for over a year, and every other person in the terrorist captivity alive.
President Muhammad Buhari also promised to "rebuild and reform the public service to become more effective and more serviceable". Also he promised that the federal government under his watch will check the gross corruption in the local levels of government.
No doubt President Buhari has captured our hearts with his inaugural speech, we pray and hope he will keep to his promises, unlike our past leaders.
Congratulations to Nigeria, change is here. Congratulations to Muhammadu Buhari. And Happy Democracy Day to all Nigerians.

11 days to go: President Jonathan begs for forgiveness
11 days from today President Goodluck Jonathan will cease to be the President of Nigeria. Some of us are already missing him but don't expect to hear we are trekking to Otuoke... We are not that jobless! (Just saying..)
President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, pleaded with Nigerians to forgive him and members of of his administration of anything he might have done wrong during the period that he piloted the affairs of the country.
He made the plea at a special thanksgiving service organised by the Aso Villa Chapel to bid him and his immediate family farewell after losing the March 28 presidential election to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.
His words: "No system is perfect. Every human system must have an element of imperfection. For the past eight years, we have been here because, my transition from Vice President to President was gradual and complicated.
"When the President (late President Umaru Yar'Adua) had a major health challenge, I ran the affairs of the country for sometime. That was even before the doctrine of necessity made me acting president. Then I took over at first and conducted the 2011 election which I won and I had to run my full four years as an elected president. So, for the eight years that one has been here, definitely one is not perfect. "We have certainly done things we probably shouldn't, but we didn't do those things deliberately. So for those who we have offended, it was not deliberate, it was circumstances of the office. We also plead that those people should forgive. We think we have done our best.
"You can do your best and your friends may misunderstand you. Today we are talking about leaving. It is only God that knows why things go the way they do", the president said.

Jonathan hasn't given me useful tips – Buhari
President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has accused the outgoing Goodluck Jonathan government of not giving him "tips" on how to kick-start his administration on May 29.
The All Progressives Congress, insisted that the Federal Government was not cooperating with the transition committee set up by the President-elect.
"Buhari regretted that the outgoing government that is supposed to give him tips on how to take off has done nothing so far," Garba Shehu, the Director of Media and Publicity of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, told journalists.

Buhari plans to establish special court for corruption
The President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) plan to set up special courts to prosecute sundry tax evasion cases and official graft.
The courts, which will be in the Federal Capital Territory, would deal strictly with corruption and tax evasion offences by companies, individuals and government officials.
The courts are expected to lift the burden of excruciating and delayed trials of offenders by regular courts so that the next government can get fast results in its avowed war against corruption.
How una see this matter?
Are you in support of this?

UNBELIEVABLE: North Korea's defence minister executed for sleeping during meeting
North Korea's defence minister has been publicly executed with an anti-aircraft gun for falling asleep during military meetings and answering back to leader Kim Jong-Un.
Hyon Yong-Chol, 66, who was named head of North Korea's military in 2012, was killed in front of hundreds of bloodthirsty officials at a military camp in the capital Pyongyang on April 30.
It is not the first time a ZPU-4 anti-aircraft gun has been used for executions in North Korea, with recently released satellite images showing a number of unidentified people being killed using the brutal method at the same camp last October.
Han Ki-Beom, deputy director of South Korea's National Intelligence Agency, told a parliamentary committee that hundreds of officials watched the execution in Pyongyang on April 30.
Nawao! So sleeping on duty Is a DEADly crime in North Korea!
What do you have to say about this biko?

2015 Elections Result: I hope my wife will not divorce me - President Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan while speaking against the backdrop of his decision to concede defeat after the presidential elections during a thanksgiving and farewell service organized for him, said such decisions come with its consequences.
The president said he hopes his wife will not divorce him just as the former South African leader, F.W de Klerk's wife left him when he chose to abolish minority rule in South Africa, a decision he took for the greater good of South Africa.
He sympathized with his Minister and aides for the persecution they will face as they also leave office come May 29th.
"I believe there are reasons for everything. Some hard decisions have their own cost. That I have ran the government this way that stabilized certain things, the electoral process and other things that brought stability into this country. They were very costly decisions which I must be ready to pay for. Some people come to me and say this or that person is he not your friend that benefited? Is it not your government that this person benefited from? But this is what the person is saying. But I used to say worse statements will come. If you take certain decisions, you should know that those close to you will even abandon you at some point. And I tell them that more of my so-called friends will disappear. When F.W de Klerk took the decision to abolish minority rule in RSA, even his wife divorced him. I hope my wife will not divorce me. But that is the only decision that has made RSA to still remain a global player time. If we still had that minority rule there, by this time, nobody will be talking about RSA. If you take certain decisions, it might be good for the generality of the people but it might affect people differently. So for ministers and aides who served with me, I sympathize with them, they will be persecuted. And they must be ready for that persecution" he said.

Rich church and poor members... What's up? (Concluding part)
In the article "Rich church and poor members... What's up?" i promised to show you some scriptures in the bible that will shock you.
Please turn your Holy Bible to the book of Ezekiel chapter 35 vs 1 - 10.
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says
the Lord God to the shepherds: "Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.' Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: "As I live," says the Lord God, "surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock"— therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God: "Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them."
The message is clear!

Rich church and poor members... What's up?
Of recent i've been thinking about this sardonic trend in Nigerian churches, "Rich G.O and poor congregation"
You will see a "big church" (don't want to mention any names) with branches all over, the founder living an extravagantly comfortable life while most of his member are languishing in poverty. In most cases, the church building of their branches will make you wonder if it is the same God they are worshiping in the headquarters that they are worshiping there.
This got me thinking: "is this the love that existed among the early church?" "is this what Jesus Christ did to his disciples?"
Lets take a look at a scripture in the Holy Bible: Acts 2 vs 44 - 45: "All the believeres were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need" (NIV)
The above scripture describes how the early early church conducted themselves.
Suprisingly today's church which is supposed to be a replica of the early church has gone the opposite way. Now it is the church members, most especially the needy amongst them that sell their property to finance the church. The pastor is there flying around in private jets, crushing the latest car in town not caring about the condition of his members.
I would like to clearly state that i am not against pastors owning private jets and riding luxurious cars BUT i am totally not in support of pastors living a lavish life while their member languish in poverty.
Most of all this big churches have schools - primary, secondary and even universities. Their school fees for one term can literally lavishly feed a family of 5 for 3-months.
This are schools that are built with members "tithes and offerings" including that of the poor, yet they are reserved for the elite.
Lets face the reality most of the churches in Nigeria are businesses in disguise. They tell you "pay your tithe and offering and God will bless you", they quote bible verses like "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3 vs 10 (KJV)) but then they are blind to scriptures like Act 2 vs 44 - 45.
I want to state clearly that i am not against the payment of tithe or offering. It is indeed a gateway to receive blessings from God.
I know some people after reading this will lampoon me. But before you do that i want you to look around, start with your environment. Do you or do you not see what i am talking about? Is this how Jesus Christ treated his followers? In the next article i will show you some scriptures in the Bible that will shock you.
This article is not an attack on any persons. This is just a wake up call to churches and their leaders. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR MEMBERS.
